“In 2003 Alison Cahn directed me in a BBC documentary “When Michael Portillo became a single mum.” For a week I took over the parenting role from a single mother, looking after her four children for a week on a budget of £80. The film was ground-breaking at the time although it has since been much copied. It was also complicated to shoot around the clock with two crews and involved difficult editorial issues. What emerged from Alison’s skilful edit was a film that was poignant and humorous, which ten years later is still remembered.”
